Spearmint plants resemble peppermint plants, except that spearmint plants have bright green leaves that are pointed as well as lavender flower spikes that can grow up to 4 inches long.

Spearmint is a hardy perennial up to USDA plant hardiness zone 5 and prefers partial shade and well draining, moist, rich soil.

Planting Spearmint:

  • Choose to plant directly in the garden or in a pot.
  • Choose soil with a pH of 6.5 to 7.
  • Make sure the soil is moist, rich, and well draining.
